Community Impact One Voice, One Gift United Way of Milford (UWM) is your United Way~meaning that the time and/or money you invest in United Way of Milford stays right here in Milford! The money we raise by our community-wide campaign serves only the Milford community. UWM links donors and volunteers to issues they care about and forms strategic partnerships to achieve community impact. Each one of us has a cause we are passionate about! Whether your focus is on strengthening families, nurturing children, or meeting critical needs, such as food and shelter, nutrition or safety, by caring (through giving) you can make positive, lasting changes in your own back yard!Today's United Way focuses on addressing the underlying causes of community issues~why problems exist. Funding direct services programs is important, and United Way of Milford will continue to do that, but to really have an impact on community conditions, we, as a community, need to come together to address the problems at their source. Established in 1957, United Way of Milford directly services members of the community on all economic levels. Our funding makes up the difference between what the services cost and what the client can afford to pay. UWM dollars pay for services to help those who work for a living and those who cannot....in hundreds of ways. UWM plays a vital role that tax dollars cannot. No single group can solve the complex problems that matter most. That is why United Way of Milford works side by side with community leaders, businesses, government and other service organizations to address our community's most pressing needs. Our partners have become leaders in identifying solutions to social issues such as homelessness, early childhood education and mentorship.   |
