Our Work United Way of Milford is funding the 21 agencies that are helping you! The American Red Cross, Bridges, Boys and Girls Club and the Rape Crisis Center, are just a few of the vital agencies that rely on the United Way of Milford for funding direct services. These services are provided strictly to the citizens of Milford, and include assistance with bills, childcare, prescriptions, senior housing and medicare, home energy supply, and emergency care in crisis situations. United Way of Milford is not always visible, but we are always there, behind the scenes supporting the agencies that provide service to you, your neighbors and friends. Whether you're a parent supporting a family or an elderly person with limited income, or an individual in a crisis, the United Way of Milford is in the business of offering community solutions. We're the financial engine that drives our community by empowering it's people, creating sustainable results and changing lives! United Way of Milford is the model agency, teaming with local government, schools and faith-based organizations to reduce duplication of services, to identify gaps in services and maximize the use of limited resources. DID YOU KNOW ? Did you know that each year in March we conduct program evaluations to assure that donor dollars are addressing the needs of the people in our community? We ask the difficult questions so that you, the donor, can be confident your donation is being used as you intended. We understand and respect your passion and desire to help and we make sure your donation is going to a fiscally sound agency. We make sure the programs you fund compliment one another rather than duplicate services. We do the homework so you have the security of knowing that your dollars are wisely invested in the highest quality programs that make a difference for you. WHO ASKS THE QUESTIONS? A group of unpaid volunteers made up of UWM Board Members join together to make up Community Investment Panels. There are six panels; two evaluate agency applications for funding concerning the area of Strengthening Families, two concerning the area of Nurturing Children, and two evaluate agency applications for funding in the area of Meeting Critical Needs.
